Swami Dayananda Saraswati once said of music ...
|
Swamiji’s unique musical compositions usher us into that coveted experience of oneness with the total.
Between 1975 to 1990, during his teaching years at Sandeepany, Mumbai,
Sandeepany West at Piercy, California and at the Saylorsburg ashram in the U.S.,
Swamiji composed the majority of his songs.
The title of this CD is «Bhajans of Swami Dayananda Saraswati».
All the recorded compositions on this CD were rendered by the late Sangeeta Kalanidhi Maharajapuram Santhanam, and it was produced by an ardent devotee of Swamiji in the U.S., Sri Rangasami Parthasarathy.
Another oft-heard song, «He Govinda He Gopala» was put to tune on the spot, at a venue in Hawaii.
The Anaikatti years from 1991 to 2012, saw the emergence of Swamiji’s later compositions, including «Bharata Desha Hitaya» in raga Desh, the patriotic anthem of the Aim for Seva movement.
In more recent times, around 2011, Swamiji wrote the powerful «Mahalinga Vibho». This and his latest song on Devi Jnaneshwari will be uploaded at a later date.
Perceiving the need to acknowledge Swami Dayananda as the source of these compositions, AVR and PT wishes to offer his musical creations for free through our App (Teachings of Swami Dayananda) and our website. They are rendered by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Maharajpuram Santhanam, one of the great Carnatic music vocalists of the 20th century, who gave the notations to the songs between 1984 and 1989.
